Contra Joe
I'm with him. It'd be great to see those who want to take an actual "mini-corps" approach have a stage to put it on - while at the same time preserving the genre that Erie started long ago; for the rest of us who just want to play and keep the committment level reasonable. I agree, the only issue is fitting this all into Labor Day Weekend??? ^0^

But if you are going to have an issue, please let having too many corps be it. Edited September 25, 2007 by mchromik

Just curious Even if no further venues/size corps are added, it sounds like the DCA should consider having a post season formal banquet (as is done in other sports and circuit activities) to catch its breath in a relaxing environment ... they could hand out whatever awards they give out for competing corps (Director of the year, etc.) and also honor the HOF inductees ... either that or move the HOF induction to a Monday morning breakfast ... :-)
Jimbalaya
Why, yes, Frank. That's been a question and has been problematic for the HOF for years. Gary.....what a question...........for many years (5?) we've been relegated to a luncheon on the Saturday of Championship weekend. Even with us accomodating DCA's scheduling, there are many members who are involved with their corps or parent organizations and still cannot attend the HOF functions due those commitments. They either miss the luncheon and annual meeting or both. The inability of all possible members to attend the induction ceremony for the newly elected members for whom they may have cast their votes, and the unavailability of these same members to attend the meeting afterwards in order to discuss the current and timely business of the organization, remains a concern. The HOF supports DCA and the activity. We continue to do what we can to accomodate DCA in all their activities over that weekend. Our sincere hope is that somehow we can do our new inductees the honor of having a maximum attendance for their special day. Just my 2 lire J WOW....lots to do over Labor day weekend, and not enough time to do everything!!Where exactly would you place the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame Lunch/Dinner/Induction ceremony??? Jimbalaya
Andy.......DCA and the WDCHOF are two different organizations. Championship weekend is the optimum time for all HOF members to attend. Your remark about a banquet held in a relaxing atmosphere is right-on. The concept of the existing luncheon or possible brunch is not the ideal. It's been looked at, massaged and discussed and we have not come to an agreement on exactly what or how would be best for both organizations.......a breakfast or brunch isn't the way. Hopefully we'll get some folks involved in both organizations to make constructive suggestions on how to make it work for both. J Even if no further venues/size corps are added, it sounds like the DCA should consider having a post season formal banquet (as is done in other sports and circuit activities) to catch its breath in a relaxing environment ... they could hand out whatever awards they give out for competing corps (Director of the year, etc.) and also honor the HOF inductees ... either that or move the HOF induction to a Monday morning breakfast ... :-)
