Crickets were ALL OVER the gym while we slept, a water pipe burst so we had to get bussed elsewhere to shower, and the food truck was too far away from the gym. i think that definetly took the cake for this year I don't recall which year it was (I think it was 1976) and we were staying at a HS in Huntington, WV. The corps was spread out across the gym floor. When the lights were turned out, roaches (and BIG roaches) came out of nowhere and were almost instantly all over the gym. Some were using flashlights to find them, and tried to smash them with their flipflops. There were way too many, and the only way to get them to go away was to keep the lights on. So we did. roundabout Posted October 11, 2007 Share Posted October 11, 2007 Divine high school i dont even know why they let us stay there again the janitors kept complaining that there were kids sleeping in the gym last year but yeah we also got the crickets as well as frogs feeding on the crickets freezing showers and the possibility of poisenous snakes for the two hours that it wasn't a monsoon outside (wich we had to rehears in on the day of the San Antonio regional) although we did find some random christmas lights in the bathroom and made a delta out of them Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

zackiedude Posted October 11, 2007 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I'm glad some other people remember Schuylkill Haven. Their form of "stuffing" (it goes by some other name) is absolutely amazing! I will say I think my worst experience in all my summers was this past one in a podunk town north of Houston. The crickets were rediculous as everyone can attest to (what was it with Texas? One year it's a butterfly infestation, another year it's crickets!), it was wet, hot, and generally horrible like practicing in Texas is... but we also got shot at. Some guy drove by in his pickup and just shot at the colorguard as we were practicing. We still don't know if they were blanks or if it was a prank or whatnot, but that was scary!
