Walter Kelly, chief judge for DCA for many years. Was with the Hoboken, N.J. Purple Lancers, the last Senior Drum and Bugle Corps to nearly dethrone the Cabs at the New Jersey AL States back in the late 40's, early 50's.

Absolutely D.A.!!

I only knew him later in life, but he was unique to say the least.

I wish I could have seen him hunting pidgeons..I missed that year. Sounds hilarious! :tongue:

I doubt that anyone really cares, but . . . I looked at this photo and said to myself, "It can't be who I think it is. He was a famous drummer, not a horn player." The person I thought of was the late Les Parks. This is how I remember Les looking when I joined the Caballeros.

Any old timers out there who might concur? Bobby looks nothing like Les now, but I was all set to guess this photo was a young Les! I'll have to see if I can find a photo of him to post here.
