Discombobulato
Whats the big deep bass drum thing they use throughout some of the show, cause that thing is really awesome and adds a bada** effect to the show. I'm gonna buy the 91 finals DVD, I've just started watching that year and its for the most part amazing. Some things I've never seen before. Schickmeister
I know they used concert bass drums turned onto their side during the drum solo. Perhaps that is the sound that you are referring to? Either way, a great show!
Discombobulato
Yeah that could be it, when i first looked at them they looked different, but thats because I'm used to a cheaper one at my school. A whole line of concert bass drums, thats awesome if thats what it is. One of my favorite shows, i better not overplay it.
JMS0527
Sounds like concert bass drums to me My favorite non-championship-winning show of theirs Edited October 24, 2007 by JMS0527
atlvalet
Multiple concert bass drums (Maybe they changed the heads?) in the pit with colorful neon tape/paper on them being played with 2 mallets :)

BMBob
I need to get both an audio and video recording of this show - I love it and lost the CD that had it on there...grrr...
1990_RookOut
They were called "gong basses." You'll see them used in 1990 as well, although to a lesser extent.
