Charles Frost, born and raised in Austin Texas, is now pursuing a Bachelor of Music in

Trumpet Performance from Texas State University in San Marcos where he studies with

Dr. Keith Winking. At Texas State, Charles has performed with almost every ensemble

and has been Principal of the Texas State Symphonic Winds and Lead trumpet of the

Texas State Jazz Orchestra and Orchestra Del Rio Salsa Band. He is also a member of

the Gamma Phi chapter of Phi Mu Alp

Charles was a member of the Santa Clara Drum and Bugle Corps in 2001 & 2003. In the

2006 & 2007 season he returned to Santa Clara to be assistant tour manager. His

performance career ranges from the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival to being a featured

performer at Sea World San Antonio in the Riptide 2005 show.

Currently, Charles is finishing his degree for a May 2008 graduation while teaching

trumpet and freelancing in the Austin – San Antonio area.

Mellophone Tech - Pat McGee

Pat is thrilled to join the Crossmen brass staff for the 2008 season. He

recently graduated Summa ### Laude from George Mason University with

a B.A. in Music with concentrations in Trumpet and Arts Administration.

Pat currently works as a freelance performer and educator in the Washington

DC area. He maintains a private trumpet studio and is a brass instructor for

Edison, Annandale, and Falls Church High Schools. Pat is a proud alumnus

of The Crossmen (99-01, 03-04), Blast! (2005), and The GMU Green

Machine Pep Band. Pat finds writing about himself in the third person

somewhat odd, but strangely rewarding.

Visual Caption Head - Levi Chavis

Levi Chavis is currently an Assistant Band Director at Ronald Reagan High

School in San Antonio, TX. At Reagan, Levi is the visual instructor of the

Marching Band, director of Concert Band 1, co-director of Concert Band 2

and the Jazz Bands, and assistant for the Wind Ensemble. Before coming to

Reagan, he was an Assistant Director at Elkins High School in the Houston

area, where he had the opportunity to teach visual for the Elkins Percussion

Theater (2007 TCGC Scholastic Marching Open Class State Champions).

Levi is a Magna ### Laude graduate of the University of Houston, where

he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree. Levi marched from

2002 to 2004 as a lead trumpet in the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI

World Champions: 2002 & 2004), toured Japan with the corps in the fall of

2004 as a Yamaha guest clinician and served on the brass instructional staff

in 2007. Levi has extensive experience instructing some of the best high

school marching bands in the nation, including Spring High School from

Spring, TX (his alma mater), Prospect High School from Mt. Prospect, IL

and currently Reagan High School from San Antonio. In his spare time,

Levi enjoys spending time with his fiancée (Amanda), their dog (Zeus) and

staying active and healthy by competing in multisport events

(duathlon/triathlon).

“As the new Visual Caption Head of the Crossmen, I’m very excited to work

with a talented drum corps that has such enormous potential! I hope to build

upon the proud traditions of the Crossmen and ensure that we continue to

make our mark as a top-tier drum corps from Texas!”

Wow a lot of alumni from Crossmen, Santa Clara, Cavaliers, and Bluecoats on staff.

Looks like they're are going for a more local staff this year too so that folks are full time instead of drop ins. This will probably cut down on airline costs for out-of-staters too, which could cost up to $25,000 a year.

SMART MOVE!

Good luck Bones!
