JerseyBoy_
Crossmen to tackle Russian, Strawberry Soup, and more at Camp Date: 12/6/2007 Posted by: Jarrett Lipman The 2008 December Audition camp is just over a week away and it’s not too late to register and start the process of becoming a member of the 22-time DCI finalist Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Beginning at 6:00pm on Friday December 14th at Ronald Reagan High School, the December Audition Weekend will provide you with the opportunity to stand alongside of returning members of the Crossmen, perform classic Crossmen tunes including Alfred Reed’s Russian Christmas Music and Don Ellis’ Strawberry Soup, and of course, audition for a spot in the 2008 corps. In addition, on Saturday evening at camp, Corps Director and Program Coordinator Mark Chambers will reveal the title and details of the 2008 Crossmen Program. “We are working to develop a product this season that satisfies the wants and needs of our members, alumni, and the DCI community alike. The direction for the show is exciting and connects in many ways to the personality and style that the Crossmen have become known for,” explained Chambers. Between the two experience camps in San Antonio and Dallas, over 300 have already expressed an interest in joining the Crossmen family, but the December camp is yet another great opportunity to check out what it takes to be a member of this World Class Drum and Bugle Corps. Friends, family, and alumni of the Crossmen are invited to the Late-Night Show and Tell on Saturday Evening. The corps will move into full ensemble around 10:15, and will present their work from the weekend around 11:45. In addition to the music ensemble, the Colorguard will present a routine created during their work through the weekend to cap-off the evening. After the conclusion of camp, the 2007 Crossmen will re-unite on Sunday Afternoon at the Spring Hill Event Center to celebrate and closeout a momentous season for the corps. Tickets are still available for the Banquet and can be purchased HERE. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. If you are interested in spending a weekend with the Crossmen cooking on the food truck, completing airport runs, working on uniforms, and helping the members enjoy a truly memorable experience, we would love to have you join us. “A weekend at camp” is not a glamorous lifestyle, but it is one where you can truly make a difference in the lives of each performer who joins us for the camp weekend. E-mail Maureen@crossmen.org if you are able to donate some of your time. All those interested in auditioning for a spot in the 2008 Crossmen should RSVP and Register online for our audition weekend. It's just one of those extra tunes that corps learn nowadays, like Phantom and Canon, Cadets and Rocky Point, or SCV and Music of the Night.
