Fusion Core announces Assistant Drum Major

Fusion Core is pleased to announce Lauren Kulick as Assistant Drum Major for the 2008 Season. As the Assistant Drum Major, Lauren will work along side Drum Major Megan Spatz and will showcase the corps during non-competitive performances. Holly Marino, Director, said “once again, we are fortunate to have music educators taking an active leadership role within our organization”.

Lauren is a 2006 graduate of Montclair State University School of the Arts and is currently the band director at Jefferson Twp. Middle School in New Jersey. This is Lauren's second year marching mellophone within the DCA Circuit and Fusion Core. When she is not enjoying drum corps or teaching Lauren is a freelance french hornist and a french horn player for the brass quintet "Covenant Brass". Lauren is very excited to be hitting the field this summer in this unique role, and is looking forward to a great season.

Fusion has extended interviews for one additional Assistant Drum Major thru the month of April. The Assistant Drum Major will work closely with the lead drum major all season. Responsibilities include the backfield and side-field conducting responsibilities. The ADM will also participate in parades, awards retreat, and will be called to conduct from the main podium from time to time during sectionals and rehearsals. Experience as a high school, college, or drum corps drum major is preferred, but not required. If you are interested, please contact Chris Kilian, Program Coordinator at fusionprogram@gmail.com for more details.

Fusion is dedicated to providing the best drum corps experience to all members while providing world-class instruction and programming.

There are still a few positions left for the 2008 Season. Please visit our website and fill out the form at http://fusioncorenj.homestead.com/membership.html.

Great addition to the DM contingent! Huge loss for the mello section! Congrats, Lauren! It's well deserved!

Fusion prides itself on solid veteran leadership. We are very fortunate to have a corps full of leaders who all work together to make the corps great.

It is because of this solid leadership base, and their example that we have had as much of a successful 08 season as we have. The brass are finished the music, with the percussion not far behind. Every facet of the corps is on target, and I can't wait to take it outside.

Fear not...we're going to a different leadership structure this year that includes an in-line drum major. Lauren has the responsibilities of a drum major, but will be a marching member of the mellophone section. She conducts in parades and some other events.

The other assistant drum major position we're seeking will handle side and backfield conducting.
