bobchilds
Listen to the recording at the link below and name all twelve corps and years represented. Hint: No corps is represented more than once. Extra credit: What do they all have in common? http://www.bobchilds.com/twonotes.mp3
OrlandoContraAlum
Well, I could pick out Scouts 83 (beginning of Strawberry Soup), Blue Devils 89 (the Frack) and Suncoast 85 (the end of Bob's Bari solo) I think. (Edit: Changed first pick, I initially thought it was Cadets 82 - Beginning of Concerto in F) Edited April 26, 2008 by OrlandoContraAlum
Huntington Mallets
besides the ones listed I believe I hear SCV 81 Don't Cry for Me Argentina Edited April 26, 2008 by Huntington Mallets
Iplaytimpani
I haven't had a chance to listen yet since I'm at work, but it appears the common link would be all 80's so far.
ssorrell
The very first screaming sop solo is Spirit 1986, Mike Elam, "Dixie"
friceox
um....all from the 80s? all brass clips? all g bugles? all male soloists?
ssorrell
I think I heard 84 Blue Devils...La Fiesta...but someone above says they hear 89 Devils. Hmmm... And wow...you mean there's 12 corps in those 14 seconds? I only hear about 6! Edited April 26, 2008 by ssorrell
Galen
Here's what I heard: 1st one sounded like Spirit playing Georgia 2nd one was Scouts doing Strawberry Soup, I wanna say '93 for the year. Low notes were Star's contra section playing "Close Encounters" from '86 (Big Bucks, We've Got Two Trucks) I heard some BD in there, sounded like either their closer from '82 or else the year they played "Chase the Clouds Away" as the closer Not sure, but I think I caught a bit of Freelancers doing "Open Up Wide"
ssorrell
Here's what I heard:1st one sounded like Spirit playing Georgia That is true, but the chart is "Dixie". Elam plays the first two notes from Georgia just before the first big brass hit, and there are other hints of Georgia at the end of the chart...but it is "Dixie" indeed. Madison'08
The third one is definitely La Fiesta.
