Can you guys give me your opinions. I'm not a brass player but I LOVE old Magic, the new stuff is okay but the stuff from the 90's is way better. Also, where did the hornline finsh score wise in pre-lims?

Thanks

Brass was Magic's strong area in the second half of the 90's

98 was a good example-a top 6 hornline :) ..with not so good percussion and marching.. :(

the general gist back in the day was in 98 that magic had major show design problems.. :(

I'm not in any ways trying to take away 98 magic.. they had a very good hornline. But how can you already judge "the new magic" on one year??? Magic is still in the process of defining their identity to the drum corps world. I am not bashing you or yoru opinions, but i want to make my point that for people who don't like magic 2002 for whatever reason, that was their inagural season basicly with about 10 people at the most who were vets in the hornline. So with that being said, of course 98 magic is going to have a much better hornline then the new stuff magic's been playing..

wow.. i really didn't mena to write that much!! :lee:

How can they be a good example of a "top six" hornline when they came in 12th in Quarters and 10th in semis ?????

I mean that through most of the season the Magic Hornline was on the same competitive level with the big boys. Sadly, by the time finals rolled around, the weakness of the other sections managed to pull the whole corp's scoring down. This is not an uncommon phemomena in today's judging system. By the time a corps gets to finals, everything is often slotted, and scores reflect this.

Listen to the CD..Those cats could wail. b**bs

Based off of last year and what they are playong this year and knowing people in the corps from both "generations" of Magic, I like old Magic better. I like the shows they played and the way they played. Its an opinion, if u don't like it I'm sorry. But also based off of what they are playing this year and the staff they are assembling it seems like they are changing the organiztion, and I just like the old SHOWS and STYLE better, i like how they run things now. I'm also not the only person of this opinion.

I by no means meant to show disrespect to your opinion, i respect your opnion that old magic is better then the new magic. And yes i understand what you mean by the old shows and styles better. I liked th em better too.. but its hard for me to believe that the new magic already has a clear and defined image, because as their talent progresses i believe their style will change along with it...
