Personally I have to go with the 2nd one, performed by drum major with knife. This is a very satisfying murder to me due to the rareness of a drum major actually being center-field on the 50. And while killing an innocent young girl, to boot! Then throwing her lifeless body to the ground, stepping over it and walking with great "vibe" back to the podium. Hands down winner!

Although hornline murder was a consideration due to the fact that said victim's body remains lifeless on the field for the rest of the show, and is even incorporated into the final colorguard block. Just while the rest of the guard is doing flag work, that dude is on the 50 lying there dead. Very epic, and a close 2nd.

A dying pic.....INNOVATION!

Interesting point. Seems from the list above that the Goths are the only ones not either enslaved or placed in camps.

BURN the Goths, Burn them I say

Someone in this thread mentioned that it would be cool to create an animated gif from the photos in 'I play the baritone good''s sig. I took it upon myself to do so:

I remember hearing Arogonne Rebels "nailing Christ to the cross" during JC Superstar ( 71 ? ) and really feeling it in my gut. Yes, it made me actually think about the feeling of being nailed to a cross. Could they have done without it ? Yes. Would it have given people that haunting, gut wrenched feeling without the snare hits and just the chord build up ? No. Many people have played it, but even after all these years, that sticks out to me as one of the best versions I've ever experienced because of how uncomfortable it made me feel and because it seemed as if the nailing went on forever.

My God that was a great hornline.

Well, now you can see (and hear) it. Thanks to Jim Jones and the Trooper organization, part of the 1972 DCI Championship finals are available on DVD through Drum Corps World. For details please see:

Hmmm...the poll is incomplete. Murder #1 is Spartacus' best friend at the gladiator school; #2 is Phrygia; #3 is Spartacus; #4 is the Roman Commander (DM); and #5 is the Blue Devils.

Oh, relax!
