mad_scotty
Gee thanks, Captain Obvious. I'm NOT talking about ON THE FIELD PERFORMING MEMBERS. Are you kidding me?????? since when are sound board operators neither on the field nor performing? they might be (slightly) out of bounds, but they are front and center, and their operations fundamentally alter the sound before it reaches the audience's ears. I have actually seen a couple that are setup right under the podium. ContraRich77 said, Since when has drum corps EVER had a dress code? How did you even NOTICE?ALL drum corps people dress like bums!!!! I would counter how could you NOT notice? Perhaps I just note a higher degree of detail when watching the performing unit than do some. Somehow, I don't see how you can miss the guy running around hooking up the amps and then standing under the Drum Majors podium the whole performance. I would at LEAST expect some to notice when the Drum Major salutes...but perhaps I expect too much and this is why we need narration to inform those that don't get it. mad_scotty
The pit is set up OFF the field....................... i have never in my life seen a pit set up off the field. they are on the field, but usually outside of the sidelines (which are no longer considered "out of bounds" in dci anyways, and now have, for the most part, the functionality of hashmarks). They are not on a football field, they might be on a soccer field that was mismarked as a football field but they are not ON a football field. Yea yea, uh huh, time for Judge Waptner They are not on the football field.

MoonHill
I like the staffs that manage to multitask just enough to put on some nice shorts/pants/whatever and a decent shirt when their corps is going to take the field. Especially when it's staff that's not going to be seen on the field itself, but just cares enough to make their little bit of the organization look professional. But then, I was in a corps that was led onto the field by one of our visual techs, whose idea of "dressing nicely" was to wear the least-stained of his numerous stained, ripped, crappy t-shirts, and perhaps a doo-rag that wasn't completely covered with sweat. While the Big Corps were being led on by guys who could manage to squeeze together enough dough to have a button-up shirt, or a polo... It may have scarred me.
