Ahh, thank you, Les Stentors, for playing the corps off the field with a street beat. Always refreshing when that happens.

Interesting rep from Beatrix for their "The City" program:

Selections from Face Off - Selections from Hannibal - Mr. Bojangles

Wow, the REAL announcer just showed up, local radio jockey. Wonder what kept him from getting to the stadium on time?

Beatrix is taking the field now. Very large group this year.

Guard starts on rifles except for a few featured dancers. Trumpet solo starts the brass entry into the show. Very dark start to the show (although not Dark City like Renegades).

Great opening hit! Oh, except for the mello who missed the release.

Drill is fast, but dirty, as lines aren't quite forming.

The music is very aggressive. Great tuba sound!

Horn sound is very balanced, both within each individual section and as a whole. The guard has now donned hats. Half the guard is on sabre, the rest dancing with their hats. The corps has now gone into a swing section of the film noir type. I almost expect Bogey to show up with a falcon statue.

Great down and dirty section as the corps comes up front and just lets loose with a wall of sound. Crowd loves it!

The corps is now playing the ballad from 2001 Cadets, which I believe is from the movie Hannibal. Great sound from the low brass, even as they're behind the center X of the field. Good crescendo from the horn line. This corps will do well at DCN and DCE this year.

We return to aggressive with the theme from the 1989 Batman movie.

By the way, saw Dark Knight Thursday night. Blew my mind.

OK, back to the show. Very intense percussion work with brass stabs behind them.
