Comparing 2007 and 2008

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry but enough with the whinning about Troopers...every year it is another corps fans complaining about this or that.

He is not whining about the scores. He is talking about the way they decide performance order. It makes a difference. I saw you on a different thread (see below) complaining about PC's performance time for San Antonio.... what makes that any different?

Maybe its because PC wasnt in competition with any div1 corps in long beach?

Maybe, maybe and if so what a shame for them to miss out on a better slot

If you compare the results from Atlanta with the results from the Rose Bowl here's how it shakes out based on placing:

Crossmen-----------16--------------12------------ +4

Madison Scouts-----15 ------------ 13 ------------ +2

Crown----------------6 -------------- 4 ------------ +2

Bluecoats------------7--------------- 6 ------------ +1

Phantom ------------ 4 --------------3 ------------ +1

Cavaliers ------------3 ------------- 2 ------------ +1

Glassmen -----------11------------- 11---------- no change

Blue Knights ---------8 ------------ 8 ----------- no change

Blue Devils ---------- 1 ------------ 1 ----------- no change

Boston Crusaders -- 9 ------------10 ------------- -1

SCV ----------------- 5 ------------- 7 ------------- -2

Spirit ----------------12 -------------15 ------------ -3

Cadets -------------- 2 -------------- 5 ------------ -3

Academy ----------- 13 ------------ 17 ------------ -4

i think madison and the blue devils are the biggest improvers. madison was just un-madison looking and sounding last year, this year they are a lot more recognizable, and i know bd won last year, but i think this show is an all-time show, while last was merely good enough to beat the competition of last year.

crown i think is neutral. i like them a lot this year, but i liked them a lot last year.

i'm torn with what to say on cadets. this years hornline is nowhere near as good as last years, and hornline is my first point of comparison. but the cadets have set themselves up to put narration first, and make that the main basis of judging them (from a fan perspective), and honestly last years narration was by far the most offensive thing i've ever been exposed to in a drum corps show, while this years is just not enjoyable to me in any way. so i guess cadets are even, looking at it that way.

biggest fall off? hmmmm....not sure anyone really stands out there, maybe scv if they don't clean it up some. but i'm not ready to award anything for this particular category yet.

It's too early to call the "step-backs," I think. Here's who I think has made strides forward this summer compared to last:

Phantom Regiment

Blue Devils

Cavaliers

Carolina Crown

Blue Stars

Glassmen

Crossmen

Madison Scouts

Troopers

Colts

Pacific Crest

Pioneer

Harvey
