kevingamin
I'll Fly Away time. Trumpets start with an intro, then low brass plays the main melody. Very lush sound. Mellos take over, very strong as a section.
kevingamin
Now pit gets featured as the corps builds to the main statement. Wow, great power from the horns!
kevingamin
Surf has great poise throughout their show. This is a corps that sees themselves as World Class entertainment, regardless of what class they compete in. Guard in three sections now (rifles/sabers/flags). Closer has begun, not sure I like the horn sound as much now.
kevingamin
Horns stand still and whip out lots of 16th note runs before hitting a big chord and getting back on the move again.
kevingamin
Increase in tempo as we move into the finale. Guard all on flags again. Hornline really moving, coming up behind the pit for the final chord. Even the announcer is blown away. Haven't heard him this excited all night. kevingamin
Teal Sound will round out our competitive portion of the night. Never seen these guys before, either. Tonight's a lot of firsts for me.

kevingamin
The guard has what look like leafs. The corps starts the show as soon as they're first announced. All marching, singing, and tenors before the mellos come in.
kevingamin
The guard trades in their leafs for white sheets, which they playfully throw at each other like snow. BIG chord to start the show (officially). White silks in the guard, very effective visually.
