Listed in this seasons DCI Yearbook are the following attendance numbers, 1999 Madison 19,931 2000 Maryland 18,423 2001 Buffalo 16,505 2002 Madison 20,230 2003 Orlando 18,865 2004 Denver 22,047 2005 Foxboro 20,542 2006 Madison 21,236 2007 Pasadena 24,395 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

In the late 80's early 90's attendance was more than any of the years listed here, except Pasadena. The Buffalo 2001 number is surprising. In 1990/1991 in Buffalo, attendance was over 22,000 each year, and I think in 1991 is was close to 30,000. My own estimation of paid attendance for 2008 would be around 25k. Memorial Stadium holds 52k. My *guess* is that 32 of the 52 would be in the concert side stands. If that is true, I think 25k is a reasonable (maybe even conservative) number. I saw few holes, except for the very edges. Factoring in corps members, 25k seems realistic to me..maybe even 27k. I was quite shocked when I saw it but it is clearly detailed in the yearbook. There are quite a number of interesting stats listed in the same section of the yearbook. Keep in mind that the DCI numbers are for "paid attendance", not the number of people in the stands. So they probably aren't directly comparable to things like the famous photo of 35K in Montreal. We might have 22K-24K in the stands in Bloomington, but I'm guessing under 20K paid, so a pretty big drop from Denver, Madison and Pasadena.
