The most I've ever done with similar awards is hung them on the wall somewhere, and displayed like that, looking good is all it takes. I don't think anybody in Phantom Regiment was disappointed to get the medal draped around their neck on Saturday night. Here's a picture of my medal from 1996 when I marched Regiment. I don't think it looks too bad. Remember, this is non-profit DCI. I would hate to have thousands of dollars that could go to the corps to help them out financially go instead to a fancy medal that will be worn once.
