oldsoprano
A friend sent me the link to this video tribute to Jim, which was just uploaded yesterday: And a note to the moderators - it is not video of any corps performing, so please do not feel like you have to take down the link. esch
Very nice. Cool pictures of early BD (at least I assume it was BD... looked like their old bell corps unis). Kinda missed samples of his writing, though (could have played a bit of Popeye!)

It is somehow typically overlooked that Jim Ott was the arranger for the Madison Scouts in 1980. It was a great show. He was the original arranger of the Scouts Classic "Ice Castles". Northern Thunder
Jim also did the Americanos' show in '80, with Waltz of the Mushroom Hunters.
Russellrks
I can't tell you the name of the corps in the old video but I can tell you for sure that it is not the Blue Devils. It probably pre-dates the Blue Devils by at least 4 to 5 years (I'm guessing somewhere in the mid 60's). It might even be the Commodores. Muzzicman (Billy Collins) probably knows. royal-air canada
It might be a corp that pre-dated the Commodores named the Shipmates.
uncle z
Jim also did the Americanos' show in '80, with Waltz of the Mushroom Hunters. I believe Bonnie was also the Americanos' horn instructor in '80.
