kagario
they should NOT.not really that innovative a show. not a lot of drill besides great opening block rotation. My guess is 96.8 How does innovation have anything to do with the score? Score is based more on execution, rather than anything else. 96.8 is low......really low. jplattSCV
this is incorrect. not completely, there are things in the judge sheets that reward execution even in the captions that address rep and content. There's a lot of execution evaluation in all the captions.

But innovation is DEFINITELY weighted in, especially nowadays.

Pinwiz
If BD's show this year isn't innovative, who's is?? None of them. And that's ok.
euphplayer07
If you were to compare the actual score from one year to another then the argument holds up.When we're talking scores above 99, those references go out the window. At that point it becomes a battle with 10.0. For a corps to reach that point they HAVE to get 10.0 in subcaptions, and 10.0 is something that transcends the year. The corps has to be so amazing, so perfect, and so much better than the competition that they have to be rewarded with a 10.0. Personally, a 99+ should be a rare honor. That corps was miles ahead of their closest competitor and deserves to be enshrined as one of the best shows of all time. At that point, trying to list them in order is futile. So in your opinion then Devil's should have won last year? Two PERFECT 30's in Visual last year... as for as I know that has never been done before. Lance
None of them. And that's ok. I agree. But I don't consider anything in drum corps since the big drill shift to be anything approaching innovative. It's a bunch of people running around tooting on things, banging on things, spinning things, and tossing things.

Two PERFECT 30's in Visual last year... as for as I know that has never been done before. The record is the Cavies, with three 20.0 caption scores at finals in 2002 (Visual Effect, Colorguard, Music Ensemble). In 2008, BD got 1 at quarters and 2 at semis, but didn't manage any at finals. IIRC, the only other perfect caption score at finals since 1990 was the Cadets in 1998 with a 10.0 in Visual Performance.
