kevingamin
Nice ballad. Guard on sabers and pink shear wind socks. Very nice moment.

kevingamin
DB has dropped the amps this year (or did they last year?). Good idea with such a young horn line. Guard just took turns blowing whistles across the field before the corps came back in for the third movement of the show. Guard now on "commas". kevingamin
That's neat. The guard commas are white on one side, orange on the other. Nice contrasting effect. Guard now on flags. Siren going off in the pit. Minor chords from the horns. Drums now coming up front. Time for a big feature, I'm thinking.
kevingamin
Not bad for such a young group of kids. Again, it'll be interesting to see how they build this group.
kevingamin
Next on the field are the Radiers from Wayne, New Jersey. Their 2009 program is entitled "Isle of Hope" and consists of: American Elegy by Ticheli, Frank Hungarian Peasant Songs by Bartok, Bela Romanian Dance for Orchestra, Sz. 47a by Bartok, Bela Swineherds Dance by Bartok, Bela Gan Ainm by Traditional Barber of Seville by Rossini, Gioachino
kevingamin
Lot of laughter from the drum staff after the warm-up. They're feeling good, bodes well for the performance.
kevingamin
Horns start the show playing backfield. Recorded narration comes from the pit describing Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, the theme of tonight's show. American Elegy hit, staff goes wild. kevingamin
More recorded narration from an immigrant about to sail across the ocean to join his father in America. Drum line is very sharp tonight. Horns sound good, although a touch out of tune to my ears. Good sound from the tubas, though.
kevingamin
Color guard looks wonderful, on rifle and flag at this point. Love the peasants outfit they're wearing for their uniform. More narration. Still think that kills the show's momentum between numbers.
