I wouldn't call 10th place out of 12 in the entire class successful, but then again I usually try to set a high bar for myself

considering a few years ago they didnt even compete, i'd view that as a success, especially sharing the same town with a perennial top dog

They are #### good all across the board. They should be scoring a lot higher and should be ahead of more percussion sections in the standings. I guess with the scores in Norwich they must have had an off night. Guarantee they will make that HUGE push for prelims, which we were always known to do. Who else constantly jumps 3 to 5 points from the last regular season show to prelims? Or jumps up 2 spots in the rankings?

:worthy:

Ever since we warmed up their congas - they have been on FIRE!

Ohhhhhhhh The Brigadiers. I find it so awkward that after 2yrs of The Crusaders doing Pictures and succeeding that all of a sudden Brigs does it. Anyways.....I think the tubas on the grown in the beginning of the show is cute....but may I ask why are they on the ground? I didn't get to see much of their show because the Mrs. was calling!! The mellophone sound is pretty awesome...I heard that one of the mellophone players just came back from Crown. Whoever you are...PROPS TO YOU!!! I could never have gone from DCI straight into DCA. The drumline has a nice solid sound. When I got back into the stands....their show was over. From what I heard I think Brigs are in the spot they need to be in for Prelims/Finals weekend!

Just wanted to say thanks! Yes, one of our mellophones has just returned from Crown, as well as another member from Phantom! :worthy:

wow..................... refer to my previous threads on this one.One would think that one would know about the show before one responds. Not every comment is an attack.

for the record I really didn't take any of it as an attack. I had NO CLUE what he meant by "pictures". Got my answer. It's all good. If he thinks THAT's awkward that's fine, I really don't have an opinion about it since I haven't really followed in the last 2 years.

You are trying way too hard to see bad in everything. Who ever you might be. You should step away from the computer for a while, your alter ego life is getting to you. There are pills for that, too.

***************Ok, so before I say anything....this is MY HONEST OPINION.....love me or hate me.***************

I thought all of the A corps did a wonderful job grabbing the audience. May I add that the White Sabers show is really nice and the guard uniforms definitely *POP*. Grennie's drumline is pretty smoking this year!! I'm seeing them winning the A class Percussion caption.

The one corps that shocked me the most was The Crusaders. Honestly...after all the bashing that's been going on....HAVE YOU SEEN THEM?!?!?!?! Yes, they're small...but WHAT A SOUND!!!!! I thought the ballad was so silky smooth and not going to lie.....I liked their ballad more then anyone else there. The move at the end of the show is a nice touch and I could tell by a lot of the members' faces that it was a great show! There were a few horn players that were crying and had huge smiles on their faces when the audience members threw themselves up!!! When scores were announced I was actually shocked because I thought they would've been MUCH higher! I know they've been at the bottom of the barrell but THE CRUSADERS ARE NOT DONE YET!!!!!! You will be seeing them on the field at Finals!

The Statesmen were next and their show is definitely a patriotic one! One thing that I don't understand is why do you have to have a sign on the podium? For those sitting near the bottom of the stadium it's hard to see some of the marchers! Anyways I love Aaron Copland so the entire beginning I just LOVED! Throughout the show I noticed a bunch of the marchers' horns "bouncing" which threw me off a bit. Statesmen's guard is amazing to watch and they're so young looking!! The one girl that does a few of the solos should definitely do DCI cause she would get in!!! The mellophone solo during the ballad was divine!!!! I'm a sucker for anyone who can play Amazing Grace with such.....well grace! Not a fan of Bugle Boy, but boy does the guard know how to sell it! Overall, I enjoy Statesmen's show....not a fan of the random Cadets 2002 moment...but they're definitely in the Top 5!!

THANKS SO MUCH, whoever you are! ( Private email me if you want!) The Crusaders have been racked by many different things out of our control, and have worked deligently and methodically to impress the audience for the ultimate payoff......the standing ovation!

The show in Norwich was a vast improvement over the one previously and everyone felt it.....from vets to rookies! KUDOS to our membership!!!

I came down with pneumonia this past wednesday and just came home from the hospital today feeling wornout when the phone rang out from Business manager Dave Hobart about 8 pm to tell me of the delay due to weather and let me listen to the warm-up zone for Cru in Reading......3.words......Oh My Lord!!!!

Even though the "Cru" will be on rather early next week because of the seating, you really should try to be there for a very emotional show next saturday early evening!!!!!!!
