Legolaus
1980, one of my favorite years. Top to bottom great shows. Man the top four that year were on fire. SCV was great. Madison and Phantom were so close. Guardsmen and Garfield's hornlines were fantastic. Looking forward to re-living these great memories. victorcoly
Yes - 1980 was a GREAT year for all finalist corps!! Most all of them played stuff you would remember for years!! Guardsmen - Duck whistles in the drum solo North Star - El Gato Triste Crossmen - Superman Cavies - Softly... Garfield - Elks Parade (and Al Chez!!) SCV - "Stone Ground Seven" - possibly one of the greatest drum solos of all time; and "Evita." Madison Scouts - Malaguena and Ice Castles Phantom - Polivestian Dances Spirit - "Georgia" (and arguably the LOUDEST hornline ever!!) Bridgemen - "In the Stone" 27th - "Open Wide' -- and as always, "Danny Boy." Devils - "Dindi"

(And the roar of the crowd as the hornline stepped over the rifles during Softly) If there's enough interest, we can do a re-broadcast of 1980 this Sunday? Fran Haring
I agree with the other posters... that was a great year for DCI. The only downside for me was the Blue Stars not making Finals.
