kevingamin
Wow, this crowd LEAPED to their feet at the end of the show. A lotta love for these kids. That was pretty magical.

kevingamin
Next on the field is Forte from Grand Prairie, Texas. Their 2010 program is entitled "Stargazing" and consists of: In Caelum Fero by Jenkins, Karl Allegro Vivace from Dance Suite by Bartok, Bela Overture to a New World (from Dancer in the Dark) by Björk 1000 Airplanes on the Roof by Glass, Philip Selections from The Planets by Holst, Gustav Main Titles from SIGNS by Howard, James Newton Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by Unknown
kevingamin
After setting up, the pit uses their mallets like telescopes, gazing up to the stars.
kevingamin
Pit also playing a little during the pre-show, heard a little Twinkle, Twinkle. Now a horn trio in the back played the ET melody. Basses just played a quick Mars rhythm. Back to the pit, now on Jupiter. This is fun.
kevingamin
Tubas just played the Close Encounters alien theme. Corps is now set up, DM has saluted. Here we go.
kevingamin
Opening stabs from the corps, then the corps turns backfield for a short segment. Back front, slow company front moving diagonally across the field. Very well balanced sound for the size of the horn line. Drum line is pretty clean to start, too. kevingamin
I was just going to say that the drums were overpowering the horns a little. Then the horns kicked up the volume and shut me up.
kevingamin
Small brass ensemble that just played had a very warm and balanced sound. This is a very listenable show.
kevingamin
For four tubas, they put out a strong sound. Love the Bartok piece! Last heard it from Freelancers in '91.
