So first let me say that this is my first review ever since this is the first season I am not marching with the Caballeros in 4 years (I know it's not a lot). I have been to a few shows and had to work on Saturday so I didn't make it to Scranton.

Sunday was a FANTASTIC day for drum corps. I have decided that I like marching in the poring rain much better than sitting in it, I marched

Pre-lims in 2006 and Wildwood last year so this is a reasonable statement. A friend came with me who has been to some shows but never marched before. We being not to smart did not bring umbrellas, towels, ponchos...nothing...

There were four Corps in competition on Sunday Fusion, Bush, Hurcs, and Cabs

Fusion- there show was much better this weekend than for the Grand Prix (which was expected) I really enjoyed the show and I am excited to see it finals weekend. It also did not rain to terribly on Fusion

Bush- I love the guard and the drum line I think that those two sections really go with the Voodoo concept, I love when the horn line and the color guard get in the circle during the drum solo (?) It really gets the point across and when I saw it at the grand prix it was very creepy. Unfortunately during their performance it was raining so hard (sideways) that the audience almost could not see them performing, GET IT color guard that was tough and you guys pushed through awesome!!!!

Hurcs- First time seeing their show, it was good, entertaining and only rained a little bit. I wish I was higher because in the end they have a very cool drill move, that the drum majors stand was blocking because I was so low. I liked the concepts, and would like to see the show again!

And... THE SUN SHONE FOR THE CABALLEROS!!! Obviously I love the show, I think it has a great concept, one of the better ones since 07, and I love the masks!!! I do think their color guard is fantastic this year and I liked them the best out of the night.

First review ever so don't be mean, and It wasn't much of a review since it rained so hard, really just wanted to say AMAZING job to everyone competing It was tough performing in the rain (and sitting in it) even for the Hurcs and Cabs since the field I know was sopping wet and so were their flags!!!!!

Thanks for the review! I was wondering if anyone stuck around in the rain long enough who would actually want to review the corps in the end!

As for the sun shining for the Caballeros, I went to a show in MA in 05 after DCI finals where the Cabs went on last and halfway through their show, the heavens opened and they got completely dumped on (I made a new friend who happened to have a huge umbrella and let me sit under it!). They finished out the show with quite a lot of energy, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Then, I was amazed at how they were able to keep it all together.

On Sunday, I found out for myself. :)

I actually like marching in the rain! Not always but sometimes, I feel like that is when Cabs shows the best team spirit. There is lots of "Get it" and "We Can Do It" etc. A few times when I was marching it rained just in time for us to go on the field! As much as it was pouring it was an enjoyable show!

I remember that show quite well. It was actually Bristol, RI, though, if memory serves correctly. We went to watch DCI finals Saturday night, and then had the Bristol show on the way home Sunday. I remember hitting the ballad, and suddenly seeing a few drops falling on my marimba... which turned into a torrential downpour about 5 seconds later. This was one of the most fun shows that we had in 05, and to this day is still the most fun I've had in a performance. All of a sudden I look at the rest of the pit and everyone is smiling and having fun and the corps behind us is going nuts. That show is one I doubt I will ever forget. Good times. Good. Times.

We had to throw out just about EVERY mallet that we had that day, because the yarn soaked up all of the rain. I think I broke two that day myself just because they were so heavy and water-logged.

So do I. I was in the stands and had the presence of mind to bring an umbrella and a poncho. The more it rained, the more energy you put in to the show. I had told the friend who was with me that THIS is what it was all about when I marched. She got to see it for herself!

Wasn't that incident also the inspiration for "wetting" down the horizontal bass drums in the pit for the rest of the season? The visual effect was quite stunning from what I remember ...

:-)

It was East Providence RI actually.

That's what I remember from the map. Small, low stadium, but a great lineup of corps.
