Yes we have glocks in our group. Glocks were an important part of the earlier original Corps. The glock "players" are wives of other members and do a great job considering none had previous experience. Our glock Instructor is a former member of SCOUT HOUSE and does know his stuff.

Hey Keith, thanks for the "good luck", sorry you seem to have something against glocks........ These musicians have saved our partially worn out lips and stamina on MANY more that one occasion since we got back at it in 2006. We march in parades from June to December and our average age this year is somewhere around 60. In the geographical area where we march, the length of the average parade is between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 miles. The glock section of our corps has also been highly instrumental in adding to the spirit of our organization. We are very proud of them. To keep up with current trends in drum corps, we are considering adding real keyboards and amplified sound in the next ten to fifteen years but we're not rushing into anything! In the meantime our instructors are working together to build on the strengths of all sections to assist us in fulfilling our aim and objective which is to have fun while entertaining parade goers of all ages as well as ourselves. With continued hard work and the addition of like-minded individuals The Militaires Alumni Corps should be around for many years to come.

don't apologize for the glocks... my original corps had them... my big question is do you look like the queen's regiment or a barbershop quartet... I remember both well...

Hi Tom:

We have modified our look to "Millie/Modern. Started with red T shirts, white baseball caps and white gauntlets and gloves five years ago. Graduated to real nice golf shirts and Aussie hats a year later. We will be adding corps purchased black uniform trousers with a gold stripe, (ala the old days) hopefully before this years' Christmas parades.

Our website, www.militairesalumni.com is pretty good for a little parade corps and has a nice photo album accessible to the public from the main page. You will actually see the 'original' sea cadet corps in a 1950 pic. We still have one of the members who is in that photo with us today as our quartermaster. He marched until last year. The other photos show the red tunics and busby's and then the gay 90's uni's. The only one that is missing is the red satin Archie style shirts we wore in 1990 and 1991.

On the last page of the album some of our history is shown in the display cabinet we were encouraged to build at our 'home away from home' RCL 479 in Niagara.

Of course, we have another photo album under password protected members only section of the site. Use your imagination.......

With a little luck old time drum corps never changes, we just get a tad older loving it.

Thanks so much for your interest. If you get a chance, maybe you can catch a lift with Harold sometime and come up to see us.

Harold is indeed a good friend who I used to march next to... anyway... you earned a retelling of one of my favorite Brigadier stories that you will appreciate if you never heard it...

In my day, your "Queens Guard" uniform was considered quite extravagant... with the tall busbees and all that fur and gold braid... there was even a lot of talk about how extremely expensive the uniform was... In the fall of 1962, the Brigadiers were in desparate need of new uniforms... the final choice of the uniform was kept secret... it was actually a bit controversial as some of the changes were radically different and many were against it... so we're told at one rehearsal that they have the sample of the new uniform and that our fearless leader the late great Charlie Ragonese would model it for us... without telling anyone on the board or anyone else... Charlie - instead of putting on the new uni - comes strutt marching into the room in a full Militaire uniform (we won't ask where he got it) had the busbee and all and even a riding crop... he proceeded to have us all rolling on the floor as he did his full tribute to the queen...

You had to be there... it was truly a funny moment...

Later we got to see the real new uniform which of course was not much different from the old except for the addition of red applets and a black stripe across the front...
