CrunchyTenor Posted August 11, 2011 Share Posted August 11, 2011 Actually, the really old days were prelims Thursday and Finals Friday night. That was how I remember it from 1972. Then they went to what's now WC prelims on Friday and Finals Saturday. I think the first use of the prelims/quarters/semis/finals format was Miami in 1983. The first DCI competition in 1972 was Friday prelim, Saturday finals. Finals have always been on Saturday. There have been adjustments over the years to accommodate higher numbers of corps, Class A/A60, All Girls, Div II/III and now Open/World. I may eat my words, but based upon where the scores are falling I am feeling pretty good about my predictions. Spirit of NJ - 41.35 Blue Saints - 44.20 Racine Scouts - 48.40 Les Stentors - 51.75 Colt Cadets - 54.30 Forte - 56.60 Jubal - 61.30 Raiders - 57.50 Legends - 60.65 average drop from Tuesday = 20.89 points So far the only change in placements is Jubal jumping up two spots over Raiders and Legends.
