3rd Glasgow BB
I've just noticed reading through the DCI Finals schedule that warm ups have moved this year to the Military Park. I assume there will still be a shuttle bus from LOS. Good spot! Corps Warm-Up Zone Where: Military Park, 601 W. New York St., Indianapolis When: Approx. noon until last performing corps warms up Admission: Free and open to the public About: Watch your favorite corps warm up before they take the field for the Semifinals competition. Military Park is a little less than a mile from Lucas Oil Stadium. No mention of a shuttle bus...
Michael Boo
... Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but the Indianapolis Zoo is a nice walk from the stadium. If you have family members that need a drum corps break it's a fun choice. We were there a couple years ago (November, BOA) and really enjoyed it. ... The meerkat exhibit alone is worth the easy walk.
Peel Paint
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but the Indianapolis Zoo is a nice walk from the stadium. If you have family members that need a drum corps break it's a fun choice. We were there a couple years ago (November, BOA) and really enjoyed it. +1. Half a mile to a mile to the west of downtown is a large open parks area with museums including the zoo, definitely worth a visit. Also, just north of downtown along the river is a riverwalk. These are also fun and scenic places for daytime jogging or exercise-walking. This whole district to the north and west is called the Canal and White River State Park, and is something unique to Indy, unlike the malls and chain bars and restaurants. http://www.discovercanal.com/ If you have a car or are willing to cab or deal with city buses, two things a few miles away from downtown are the Indiana State Fair http://www.in.gov/statefair/fair/index.html and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Longtime fans of the Indy 500 will enjoy touring the Hall of Fame Museum. It can be boring to non-fans. If the track is not being used for testing cars, the museum offers bus rides around the track, and they let you get out and kiss the row of bricks at the start-finish line. http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/about/35204-Museum/
chaos001
Any opinions on the downtown Hilton? I see that McCormick and Schmick's is on the same property. Is it decent?
raphael18
(very long time no post) I haven't been to Indy without a corps before, so I have a question for those of you with more experience. We made one rookie mistake in getting a hotel which would require us to drive to the stadium. Where is a good place to park within a few blocks of the stadium? We are only going on Friday, and I was wondering if there are any special considerations for downtown parking: certain garages that are better deals than others, etc.
