Just A Plain Old Fan
Now this is interesting! Crusaders announce revolutionary way to pay I don't know that I've ever seen this from a corps before. I think they are on to something. troopers1
Troopers did that same plan this year. Results so far have been good.
Ghost
Troopers1 posted before I was going to mention that the Troopers were mentioned on another topic being discussed on DCP called "Corps Fees". http://members.troopersdrumcorps.org/tuition.htm

At a time in a down economy when many families and potential marchers are trying to find ways to make marching possible, here the Boston Crusaders ( and perhaps a few others ) respond to those concerns with a creative idea that can help such families and potential marchers. Kudos to Boston ( and any other Corps, ie Troopers, etc ) with responding to the times and to the needs of those who might want to march but might be struggling with the question with how to make it doable. You know, in a way, it's a throwback to 30 years ago when kids paid weekly or monthly "dues". Granted it's more money now, but what isn't? Cool idea! Granted it's more money now, but what isn't? Cool idea! I paid monthly dues. I took my former Corps Director to the Lawrence DCI show after not seeing him for decades. The first thing he says to me when we picked him up at his house was.... " hey, I've got my payroll book here and it shows you're still overdue your monthly dues by $4.00 " ( he laughs ) I asked him if he was going to charge me interest and a late charge. He said " yes ". I asked him what the bill was now. He says " $400. ". I replied, "what'll it be if I brought you a large iced coffee and a muffin ? " ( haha) Edited August 18, 2011 by BRASSO
Jim Anello
One more reason he was Director of the Year.
BRASSO
One more reason he was Director of the Year. Good point, Jim. Tom Spataro came up with the Boston- Madison fund raising challenge between the 2 Corps and it benefitted both Corps fund raising efforts... and it was fun to boot as well. There is some good young blood in DCI ready to take the activity to the next stage. The Boston Crusaders have that in their current Corps Director, and the Scouts do too. There are other Corps as well that have some good young Directors that are at their helm. Edited August 18, 2011 by BRASSO
Jim Anello
Plus, it helps the corps' cash flow, if you think of it. Things can get pretty lean until some regular income is received.
