garfield
This is one time when I'm glad nobody knows about drum corps.
dasboot
This hurts me a little bit as a tuba player, but as a poor college student it excites me
danielray
Man... do you know the street value of a Sousaphone??? My mom went to South Gate. Not exactly Bel Air... so seriously bummed that instruments are stolen from these neighborhoods where these types of programs can really make a difference for kids. Very curious about the tuba-only thefts. Odd. But... as a public service... I suggest not doing a Google image search for tuba fetish.
ibexpercussion
Man that's tough to do. It is not like trying to steal a pair of sticks or mallets. You can't just stuff a tuba down your pants, or up your shirt. But they are apparently not as stupid as this guy in Indiana. jonnyboy
The article says the Banda music craze might be responsible. Wikipedia says the bass in Banda is a sousaphone. Are gangs stealing tubas to get their low brass fix?
ibexpercussion
Are gangs stealing tubas to get their low brass fix? Yet in 2010 many corps used synths to get their low brass fix!
