Popular Post jasgre2000
For most of the year, I have expressed my opinion that the Bluecoats show didn't do much for me. It always felt a little one note throughout the whole thing, and I am not typically a fan of using voiceovers for the purpose of explaining the theme of the show. Tonight I went back and watched their Atlanta show again (without watching all the other shows before and after them), and I have to say that I have completely changed my mind. It is a beautiful show that is very moving. I have to admit that I came close to tears as I realized the "UnMasQuesed" message they were trying to share. It had a very personal effect on me. So ... I take back all the negative things I have said in the past about the Bluecoats. Bravo to whoever designed that show. It is awesome. P.S. On another note, I highly recommend going back to the fan network and watching shows in isolation. I think a lot can be missed when you watch so many shows back to back. I certainly know I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the Bluecoats until I watched their show by itself.
fsubone
I agree with you, watching the multi-cam version at Atlanta gave me a much better view of their show and many others than I had before. I really enjoy Bluecoats show this year, I think it's really well done, and super emotional at the end of it. They're really performing the heck out of their show. DrumManTx
Amen, everything in their show has a purpose! The voices, the emotions of the music, the guard uniforms, it all really comes together if you just chose to watch the show for what it is. DrumManTx
Watch this video and you'll appreciate the voiceovers and the show even more. Not gonna lie, in San Antonio I gave an audible "REALLY?" when I heard those voices, but after I got back and watched that video, I really regret doing that, probably got a few "REALLY?" looks myself... I think it adds quite a bit.

Fobo1991
I also didn't feel much from their show at the beginning of the season, but now they're going to get replayed like crazy by me when the CDs come out!

When I first heard them on a VOD on the FN, I thought it was one of those things that was going to end up taken out within a week or two, and was entirely experimental. After watching the video, I'm glad it's in there. Maybe the best and most meaningful use of voice ever
jasgre2000
I think removing the helmets at the end is at least as impactful, if not more so, as the corps removing the masks. The helmets are designed to make everyone look uniform, and when they are removed we see the individuality of each of the members of the corps. It is cool.
