This is the opposite of true.

True. Orlando had three of the worst, if not THE worst three, attended finals in DCI history.

Add in Miami in '83, and you'll hit the superfecta.

Nice state. Lousy place to play drumcorps in summer.

Oh really ? It just shows how ill informed you are on this. The Corps just raised over $43,000 for the Corps in 7 days time. Where do you think the bulk of the money came from ? The Corps raises money at its 3 shows it sponsors in New England too....at annual NE Patriots Home Games fundraisers.... at BAC Alum Reunion get togethers as fundraisers, at BAC Golf outings in Boston as fundraisers, and annual silent auctions conducted in Boston. The Boston Crusaders has its Board of Directors and Trustees all from the Boston region...its Boston Crusaders Annual Hall of Fame Dinner is in Boston. Its current Corps Executive Director is born and raised in Boston ( and marched the Boston Crusaders ). The Corps marches in parades in Boston, plays for the Boston Red Sox, does training camps in NH and in Boston.( as well as Bradenton, Fl.) Its Corps colors and traditions are Boston Crusaders. And its address in Boston is not a " PO BOX ', but a full time executive office in a close suburb to Boston manned by a full time staff whose employees are all from the Boston area. Many of its current marchers do come from Florida, (very grateful for that, I'm sure as well ) but thats because its cold in the winter in Boston and the High School bands are nowhere near what they are in quality in the Boston region to that of bands in warmer climates..... like Florida. The Boston Crusaders also have a very active Senior Corps called the Crusaders Sr, and they're from Boston and their marchers are mostly from the Boston region. Some of the older BAC alums are from the Boston area originally but ironically are now retired to Florida and several of them help out by volunteering with the Crusaders each offseason when Boston is there in Florida for the annual camps they hold there. The Bus Drivers are from Boston. The Chef and his Kitchen Crew are from Boston. The Crusaders, Sr's. also assist the Junior Boston Crusaders Corps in a variety of other ways too.... like annual cookouts for them , arranging for boat cruises around Boston for the current marchers, etc and so forth. Some of BAC's staff also live in the Boston area as well. You need to get a new angle as the Boston Crusaders don't " just maintain a P.O. Box Address in Boston ". Thats just plain inaccurate and displays a lack of knowledge on the solid and well established connections of BOTH the state of Florida and the region of Boston to the on going success of the Boston Crusaders. BOTH the Boston region and the State of Florida have a lot to be proud of regarding the success of this Corps the last decade.

But the membership is overwhelming Florida. So to correct this , the support comes from Boston ( where the $$$ and older alum are) and the kids are from Florida. When Magic bit the dust it helped propel Boston into the Finals because of the kids coming to Boston. Another thing , I know a lot of those kids would not be in any other corps because of the proximity for winter rehearsals , they won't travel out of state and would just stay home. BAC is the corps to be in of you are a Florida Kid. I know of almost 10 kids that came from a small mediocre high school band about one hr from Lakewood Ranch , one of them has been a great soloist the past 2 years. DCI was just a dream for them until BAC had rehearsals near them.

Teal is the Florida home corps and had something going but they were also in another region and attracted local kids in that area.

You are right... there is NO money in Florida......the rich people support other stuff. The avg. middle class person here would be on welfare in Massachusetts.

But the high school band programs are top notch along with the FMBC contest circuit and the FFCG Winter circuit.
