OK, what is there between BWI side and Annapolis for us folks housed out in the boonies?

Coming in Thursday night and plan to spend Friday around Annapolis. Only thing planned is a drive to check out the Academy campus (have a DoD window sticker, DoD ID and handicapped placard). After that probably just chill around..... man first time we've spent more than a few days out of the house since DCA.... 2010 DCA.

The town of Parole (a suburb of Annapolis) is another restaurant/bar center. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Best Western Annapolis, Doubletree Annapolis, or any of the hotels off of Riva Rd, you are very close to Parole. Within a couple of city blocks are Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, P.F. Changs, Ruby Tuesday, Melting Pot, Gordon Biersch, Chevy's (my personal favorite Tex-Mex), Panera Bread, and even a Chuck E. Cheese's for the kids.

That, right there, is huge.

There also is another Panera, just south of town, on Rte. 2 (Solomons Island Rd.)in the Edgewater area.

Not too much in the hotel area of the airport itself, outside of any bars or restaurants at some of the larger hotels.

There is now a Ruby Tuesday and a Bob Evans on Nursery Road in the hotel district. Not too many years ago, there was nothing except a couple of fast-food places.

Cancun Cantina in Hanover (the Maryland Hanover, Jim....LOL) not far from the airport, is a big party spot.

THere is a whole bunch of stuff at Arundel Mills, a giant shopping mall south of the airport. All sorts of restaurants and watering holes. And a brand new slots casino, Maryland Live.

Not to be confused with the MA Hanover either. (AT the Plymouth show the MC had to add Pennsylvania everytime he said Hanover.)

Rubys will work as the local one closed to become a crappy dinner and next nearest is other side of the city (don't like it THAT much). Cantina I'll have to remember when our usual crew shows up. At Rochester it was Bugaboo Creek so mebbe we'll go Mexican.

Arundel Mills sounds like a good hang out Friday if we don't feel like walking or after we get done driving around Annapolis getting our bearings for rest of the weekend. Loaded the GPS last night for hotel and stadium so set there.

Thanks Fran, will HEAR you there.... (never see you as you're working).

Between shows on Sunday, a two minute drive is all you'll need...

Drive north, you end up at the Annapolis Mall and it's food court or Restaurant Park...

Drive south, you end up on City Dock with all of its pub grub...

Drive northwest, you end up in Parole and all of the restaurants listed above...

There is a nice sit down Chinese restaurant (The Canton) right across the street from the stadium...

The city will also have the free "E-Cruzer" shuttles at the stadium to head to Galway Bay (about three blocks from the stadium), City Dock, or anything on West St. (Rams Head, Stan & Joes, or a bunch of fast food)...

Hope that helps!

Jeff

Thank you that does help. I also wasn't aware of the shuttles, that sounds like a great idea.

As an Annapolis pub crawler myself, City Dock will be the place to be for food and drink that weekend. Dozens of restaurants and bars... Middleton's, McGarvey's, Federal House, O'Brien's, Buddy's, Armadillo's, Castlebay are all great pubs right on the waterfront. On a budget, Armadillo's runs two-for-one drinks quite often. Galway Bay is the best Irish pub in Annapolis, and the owner was instrumental in getting the City of Annapolis on board for DCA's. Please stop in and thank Anthony (the owner) for that. Rams Head is a bit pricey, but has the best selection of beers and the best live music. Breakfast at Chick'n'Ruth's deli is great. Sunday brunch at Buddy's is legendary.

The Westfield Annapolis Mall has a traditional food court, but it also has a dozen or so "satellite" restaurants that are great. Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Applebee's, Romano's Macaroni Grill... plus the restaurant park right across the street with Famous Dave's BBQ, Fuddrucker's, Red Lobster, etc.

Jeff

Everyone will sell themselves short if they don't go to the city dock area while they are in town. And tour the Naval Academy. I think anyone can still walk onto The Yard (USNA campus)and check it out, right Jeff? And you can still visit the crypt of John Paul Jones I believe. All stuff you should see.

Don't go to D.C. or Baltimore, start in Annapolis right there downtown. If you finish with Annapolis, then head to D.C. or Baltimore.
