bobchilds
"Latin IMplosion," actually. A story about Stymie's backfield solo...it was not originally written in. We were in the arc one day and were working on LI. We came to the last long, soft chord, and then Stymie just decided to play it to fool around a little. Wayne looked at Stymie...thought about it...and then said "Yeah....let's keep that." Thanks for the correction. That was one of my favorite musical moments that year. The marimba playing was also awesome in that spot.
drumwizz78
94 Devs ballad and Sop Solo was awesome! Also 95 BD playing their warm up facing back field with minor chords while the guard came onto the field. That was epic! The first time I got to see them live on tour in 95 was the Ogden show. We were sitting backfield because it was a DM only show and they blew the house down. ###### off the girlfriend that night because she ceased to exist when BD came on the field lol.... MilesandCassius
86 Cadets had the first backfield company front in "Christopher Street". Also the backfield sop solo in Cadets in 82. Well, it wasn't quite backfield. Shorty Bartholomew tells the story that they got into Olympic Stadium in Montreal before quarter finals and he and Donnie Van Doren got on the field before any other corps and Shorty played the solo at various angles backfield looking for the most resonance in the stadium. They found that by playing backfield at the angle of 10:30 o'clock that the echo was the greatest. If you look at the video you can see him backfield at an angle during that solo. On the recording it's haunting.
