GlockosaurusRex
Did Santa Clara Vanguard use tri's or quads in 1979? I'm trying to transcribe the percussion parts. Thanks.

Pretty sure it was tri's; I think all players w/ same size. The 4 high tri's & 4 low tri's were in 1980 (IIRC).

Jocko the Wonder Llama
The high quads/low quads were in '80 (Stone Ground Seven). In '79 they played Slingerland Trios (14-16-18") IIRC.
LancerLegend
SCV positively played tris in 1979 - and put another drum trophy on their shelf. As noted above - they went to two sets of quads in 1980 - wonderful voicing but ahead of its time. I thought the rest of the drum corps lines would adopt that voicing - but it never took off. SCV really stuck their necks out - perhaps only drummers appreciated what they were doing in 1980 ?
