Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Dublin, Ohio, home of the 2013 Emerald City Music Games! My name is Kevin Gamin, Managing News Editor of Drum Corps Planet, and I am LIVE from the stands at Dublin Coffman High School to give you play by play coverage of tonight's event. The first corps of the night is entering the field so we will be starting shortly. Get ready for some fun!

First on the field are the Vanguard Cadets from Santa Clara, California. Their 2013 program is titled "The Art of War" and consists of:

Unto the Beach by Poulan, Key

Night on Bald Mountain by Mussourgsky, Modest

Elegy at Dunkirk from 'Atonement' by Marianelli, Dario

Hut of Baba Yaga from Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussourgsky, Modest

The corps comes onto the field in full military mode, complete with lone rope tension snare drummer playing a cadence. The drum line is in a block doing a Soviet style leg kick while marching.

The guard is in the center of the field. The uniforms are primarily red, a color well associated with war. The horns are on the perimeter of the field.

The full corps does the salute with the drum major.

Hearing some fuzz in the snare line at the start of the show.

Half the guard is on rifle and did a great toss during a silent moment in the music, accompanied only by the sound of a gun cocking.

Nice low on the last chord before the corps goes into Bald Mountain.

Interesting that the two corps with military themes (Vanguard Cadets, Madison Scouts) are also both playing this selection.
