N.E. Brigand
As of July 8: 1. 56.90 Spartans (7/5 Cranston, RI) [+1.55 7/3] 2. 55.85 Blue Devils B (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [+4.05 6/26] 3. 55.80 7th Regiment (7/5 Cranston, RI) [+1.85 7/3] 4. 55.00 Columbians (7/7 Ogden, UT) [+2.10 7/6] 5. 54.95 Vanguard Cadets (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [+3.80 6/26] 6. 53.40 Gold (7/7 Ogden, UT) [-1.05 7/3] 7. 53.30 Legends (7/8 Lexington, SC) [+3.50 7/2] 8. 52.70 Golden Empire (7/7 Ogden, UT) [-0.25 7/3] 9. 51.30 Music City (7/5 La Crosse, WI) [-4.10 7/3] 10. 50.60 Genesis (7/5 La Crosse, WI) [+1.00 7/2] 11. 49.80 Battalion (7/7 Ogden, UT) [+1.70 7/6] Season Complete (at #10 of 19) 12. 46.95 Impulse (7/3 Riverside, CA) [-0.60 7/2] 13. 46.55 Thunder (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [+1.15 7/7] 14. 46.45 Raiders (7/1 Clifton, NJ) [first show] 15. 46.00 Colt Cadets (7/6 Mankato, MN) [+2.20 7/5] 16. 45.05 Watchmen (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [-4.55 7/5] 17. 44.90 River City Rhythm (7/6 Mankato, MN) [+2.30 7/5] 18. 38.40 Blue Devils C (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [-0.50 6/26] 19. 37.10 Incognito (7/8 Mountain House, CA) [-2.40 7/3] Next shows: Lakeland, Rockford, Denver, and Sacramento on July 9. Comparing the spread between Thunder and Columbians on July 7 (9.55) to the spread between Thunder and Blue Devils B on July 8 (9.20), you might think that Columbians are therefore better than BDB. However, while Thunder saw a small increase in scores for one day, and BDB and SCVC saw a medium-sized increased in scores for twelve days (since their last competition), the other three O.C. scores all saw drops at Mountain House (more than 4 pts. in three days for Watchmen), as did the only World Class corps at that show, Mandarins, who instead of falling 3 pts. from their show five days ago might have been expected to gain 2 pts. Also, there were three other corps scored between Thunder and Columbians, but none scored between Thunder and BDB/SCVC, which probably made it harder for the judges to accurately gauge the distance between them, so I think a reasonable guess might be that BDB and SCVC were scored too low. Phantom1701
Another OC corps that won't be at Michigan City is Heat Wave. Correct. I think there was a desire to go, but only being their 2nd season I think they were strongly "encouraged" by DCI to take the slow and steady approach. Perhaps next year. N.E. Brigand
As of July 9: 1. 59.05 Blue Devils B (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+3.20 7/8] 2. 57.70 Vanguard Cadets (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+2.75 7/8] 3. 57.10 Columbians (7/9 Denver, CO) [+2.10 7/7] Season Complete (at #3 of 20) 4. 56.90 Spartans (7/5 Cranston, RI) [+1.55 7/3] 5. 55.80 7th Regiment (7/5 Cranston, RI) [+1.85 7/3] 6. 54.30 Gold (7/9 Denver, CO) [+0.90 7/7] 7. 54.00 Golden Empire (7/9 Denver, CO) [+1.30 7/7] 8. 53.55 Legends (7/9 Lakeland, FL) [+1.25 7/8] 9. 51.30 Music City (7/5 La Crosse, WI) [-4.10 7/3] 10. 51.05 Colt Cadets (7/9 Rockford, IL) [+5.05 7/6] 11. 50.60 Genesis (7/5 La Crosse, WI) [+1.00 7/2] 12. 49.80 Battalion (7/7 Ogden, UT) [+1.70 7/6] Season Complete (at #10 of 19) 13. 47.15 Thunder (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+0.60 7/8] Season Complete (at #13 of 20) 14. 46.95 Impulse (7/3 Riverside, CA) [-0.60 7/2] 15. 46.45 Raiders (7/1 Clifton, NJ) [first show] 16. 46.30 Watchmen (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+1.25 7/8] 17. 44.90 River City Rhythm (7/6 Mankato, MN) [+2.30 7/5] 18. 42.25 Heat Wave (7/9 Lakeland, FL) [first show] 19. 40.00 Blue Devils C (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+1.60 7/8] 20. 37.30 Incognito (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+0.20 7/8] Next show: Madison on July 10. BDB and SCVC move to the top, probably confirming the guess I made about Friday's scores being too low. But there's still plenty to ponder: is Golden Empire really better than Legends? Are Colt Cadets really better than Genesis? Columbians conclude their season by sliding into third place overall (edit: and Thunder wraps up their year at number 13). Edited July 11, 2016 by N.E. WaxDCIFan
This should be an interesting week for open class. Four of the top corps have been silent since 7/5, surely out getting better. We get Genesis and Music City back tonight, Spartans and 7th later.... New video out from Genesis last night: https://youtu.be/3Vd2zTe9dGE Edited July 10, 2016 by WaxDCIFan

Two Open Class corps made their competitive debuts this year. One, Battalion, wrapped up its 2016 season on Thursday (as did the two Northwest corps, Thunder and Columbians, on Saturday), but today, the other new corps, Shadow, made its debut, and currently sits right behind Battalion, whom they'll almost certainly pass in the standings by the time their season concludes at championships. Meanwhile, Genesis jumps up five points after five days off, while Music City improves half as much after the same hiatus. Edited July 11, 2016 by N.E. luv4corps
Ranked by latest score, with no weighting. Keep in mind all the usual caveats about the dangers of comparing scores from different shows. This initial post will be updated fairly regularly. Replies will indicate earlier standings. As of July 10: 1. 59.05 Blue Devils B (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+3.20 7/8] 2. 57.70 Vanguard Cadets (7/9 Sacramento, CA) [+2.75 7/8] 3. 57.10 Columbians (7/9 Denver, CO) [+2.10 7/7] Season Complete (at #3 of 20) So proud of the NW's own Columbians! In this snapshot scenario, they medal! I absolutely adored their show this year.
