Drums switch from their standard drum corps instrumentation to HBCU style drums on slings. We also announce our Homecoming king, who is one of the snares, and who comes out to play a slow on the stage prop they have on side two of the field. The tempo slows down as the corps transitions out of Beyoncé’s Party to the ballad, Best Part by Daniel Caesar. The closer, Fall Out Boy’s Thnk Fr Th Mmrs, opens with a slick drum feature as they return to their original equipment. Three guard members dance up front as John Mayer “takes their picture” with a prop camera. John then makes his famous announcement of the corps (LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE MEN AND WOMEN YOU SEE BEFORE YOU…) leading into the first hit of the show. The corps on the field is dressed in their standard Govie uniforms.
