gellio
I was just at home from Xmas and my parents have the '89 DVD. I never got the opportunity to see Star's show, during '89 or after. Wow - I absolutely loved it. What a great show! You could definitely tell how much Star grew between '88 and '89. I think it was my favorite show of '89. festive
Star 89 ROCKS! Glad to see somebody else saying it. Second only to 90 IMO!!
FakeFlam
Likewise for me -- one of my alltime favorites. Holst translated very well to the field in these arrangements, and I really liked Star's rendition of Crown Imperial...
flammaster
I saw it on TV and was blown away. I recently got the Echoes percussion CD and the 89 Star Drum solo is one of my fav's.

Tummygoat
Oh 1990 Star was my favorite show for them ever. Words cannot describe how awesome that was. IMO opinion that's when they started their innovation with a relatively unknown in Belshazzar's Feast. I really hope someone good recreates this someday again. It can never be better than the first, but this show is just too cool to never do again.
GMichael1230
Because of the references to Guardsmen and 27th, I knew I was going to like the show for that. Then, after seeing it, I loved it for itself...an absolutely stunning visual program, and that colorguard ??? Consistent handling of three different pieces of equipment, clean and with solid execution.........The last minute of drill with the gates and the company front that "smacks" you ?? Awesome......This show sohould have been much higher..and to think They went to California and tied BD three tmes, and beat them also !! ~G~
Orpheus
Their horns and drums were just in-your-face awesome that season. Great arrangements. Star '89 was definitely a harbinger of great things to come.

They did beat BD out in California. The only corps they didn't beat that year was SCV. Topped Phantom at DCI South prelims, and beat us, Cavies, and Cadets several times.
