aznole2002
Holy cow, am I really that old. I can remember the starting gun and ending gun. If you stepped on the sideline, you were penalized. Points went down from 100, not the other way. Tics were very bad thing, especially when the judge mentioned where you were on the field on his tape. Now I really feel bad..... I do remember getting my baritone and wondering what the heck that rotary thing was for. And the one valve I recognized was sideways inside the horn. Weird stuff. Hated spats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to bed now, need sleep to recuperate from memory lane.
RobH
Oh yeah, I'm DEFINITELY old school! Like, before there was a DCI "old school!" .......where's my walker.............. Drums you could actually HEAR old school. An American Flag/color pre that was the BASIS and PURPOSE of drum corps old school. Faces on the field that NEVER showed emotion (other than sheer gutsy determination!) old school. Even when you WON a show! Starting guns, one minute left guns, Tony Schlecta VFW old school. And NOBODY's gonna take that away from me!
oldtimedrummer
How's this for old school. After you had inspection, you marched forward to the "ready line." You started your "off the line" by crossing the sideline boundary. You played a drum solo. You played a "color pre" - aka Color Presentation of the US Flag. You stood still and played a "concert." You played an "out of concert." You played a drum solo. You played an "off the field" and you crossed over the other sideline boundary. The good old days? But sometimes you left concert out for prelims.

Why not put that much emotion into your show? Edited February 3, 2004 by D n B
