scvfan
I know that some of the newer corps might not have many alums who got famous but I also know that a lot of corps had members who went on to great fame in various mediums. For example: Scott Cuthbert (original drummer for Everclear) marched both SCV '83 (snare) and BD '84 (tenors) Chad Sexton (drummer for 311) marched with Sky Riders (I think that's where he marched). Supposedly Tres' Cool from Green Day tried out for BD and got cut shortly before he joined Green Day. I've heard that Neil Peart marched Kiwanis back in the day but don't know for sure if that's true or not. Anyone have any famous alumni? scvfan
Oh yeah I can remember that. That was the show that ended up having no guard in it due to arrests for obscenity yes? :)
BlooooContra
The drummer from Sixpence None the Richer, not sure of his name, marched with Sky Ryders in the 80s along with Chad Sexton. I know for sure that in 87 Chad was on snare and the other guy was on tenors. I ran into an 87 Sky Ryders rook out who mentioned that. I don't know what other years either of them marched. Lancerlady
One of our, (27th Lancers, drummers), Russ, was one of "Tower of Power's" drummers...I can't think of his last name right now...Rick? Do you remember?
hayleyfly
my boyfriend and I went to a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy concert back in May and we got to talk with the band for a bit. We were chatting with the string bass player, Dirk, and we told him we did drum corps. He said "Oh, really? You know, our drummer [his name escapes me] marched something like that ... in California, I think." So we think that BBVD's drummer marched either BD or SCV (probably BD)
