LancerFi
FYI - We did not attend the World Open in 1980 and I didn't remember competing in the U.S. Open except with the Reveries however on corpsreps for 78 these were the final placements: 1 Phantom Regiment 2 27th Lancers 3 North Star 4 Guardsmen 5 Boston Crusaders 6 Kilts 7 Garfield Cadets 8 Cavaliers 9 Royal Brigade 10 Oakland Crusaders 11 Cadets of Greece 12 Squires It was 1971 when 2-7 won the World Open the first time....Mike D can tell you that something like 2 or 3 different corps won 2 or 3 different shows (World Open/CYO Nationals...) within something like 4 days of each other. I apologize about all of the "something likes" as it's been told by Mike on many sites on several occasions. I do remember it was the corps being beat by another corps by 3 or 4 points on 1 evening, only to win the the next evening. Wide margins back then could be accomplished easier with penaltys like flag violations, time in motion, the tick system and so on. I'm not sure if they had inspection on those nights, I believe they threw it out in 70 or 71 at American Legion Nationals which may have hurt us that year. Indeed we won CYO in 1977 - the year it was a day show at Harvard and not a night show at BC. Edited November 11, 2004 by LancerFi

LancerLegend
I was at the follwing shows - the venues were changed so that Boston College could upgrade Alumni Stadium. 1971 CYO Nationals Lowell-Cawley Stadium MA Blue Rock 84.400 1977 CYO Nationals Harvard Stadium Cambridge MA 27th 81.900 1983 CYO Nationals Harvard Stadium Cambridge MA SCV 85.150 In 1971, the CYO Nationals were on a Thursday evening, the World Open was the following Saturday, and the Danny Thomas Invitational was the following Sunday. 27th won CYO and Danny Thomas. Arguably, IMO - 27th did one of their greatest performances ever at CYO but would finish in 7th. They got their revenge over the weekend. St_Marys64
That would be the Seneca Optimists <{POST_SNAPBACK}> YES, Toronto Otimists? no They were great however back in the late seventies there were 3 crusaders. Oakland, Boston, and that other corps that "look like boston"
