some old corps photos

Recommended Posts

last time I sat in the stands to watch a drum corps contest was 83…found this a few months ago

Wow....now I REALLY understand why SCV was so ###### off...they went up less than a point between semis and finals while Garfield went up more than FOUR??? And on the old tic system?? YIKES!!! I hadn't realized the semi/final score difference before.

Not really a "Recap Sheet," is it? Just a score sheet.

DCI got lots of stuff wrong that summer.

OK. I have a question for the group. Where is this stadium?? It isn't South Stadium in Milwaukee or South Milwaukee High School's stadium. Is this the old Marquette Stadium, now torn down??

1972 Kilties ready to step off. THIS is why I think the Kilties' uniform pre-1974 is one of the most beautiful in drum corps history.

Seemed like there was a lot of scoring wierdness that summer. I was at Whitewater too...

Somewhere in my collection of stuff, I have an actual recap sheet from the 1983 Finals.

The judges were fawning all over Garfield that year. At one contest, I saw a marching execution judge spot several interval errors in their vaunted z-pull in their opener and not lift up his clipboard. John Brazale saw that, too, and teed off on the judges.

Awesome to see some of these old corps listed. Ohhhh I miss so many of them.

Just looking at some of the individual participant's names:

Is the 2nd place snare Pat Petrillo who marched Bridgemen?

Dan Squires who won Tympani?

Scott Pearson ( SCV?) on Multi tenor?

2nd in mallets, would that be Taras Naharnik who wrote some music for Madison early 90's?

I'm pretty sure that is Sean Owens of Madison who won soprano, but is the mellophone Rob Billings who has been w/ BK for the past 10-15 years?

Just wondering, these names bring back a lot of memories...

VERY interesting to see this "line-up." The Garfield jump in score was A LOT, let's just say. Congrats Nat B. on the snare solo (BD).
