DCA 1965 - present

Recommended Posts

(snip)

DCA is growing and growing all over the US, in the South, West and Mid West as well as the North.  It would be nice to see Canada put something together.  So many Jr corps in the 1970's...there's got to be enough up in Ontario to put together a Hot DCA corps!!!

Perhaps this will help?!

DCA id definitely growing.

Six corps competed at the first DCA Championships in Millford, CT

1.  Reading Buccaneers...............84.50

2.  CT Hurricanes........................84.36

3.  NY Skyliners..........................83.16

4.  Yankee Rebels.......................80.25

5.  Interstatesmen......................79.95

6.  Pittsburgh Rockets.................76.95

Just curious, where was Archie? They were the other founding member, although they had a rough year in '65.

Through the years there have been MANY good Canadian Sr corps;-)

Guelph Royalaires

Niagara Miltaires(NY or Can side?,,or both?)

Jolly Jesters

Les Diplomat

Grennies

Who did I miss..help me out  TFWD.

The Canadian Commanders, Les Metropolitains, Marching Ambassadors...........

BTW, I've really liked the Grenadiers and wish them well in Scranton. I just wish they could hold both a nucleus and an identity for a few years.

you answered your own question

Archie decided not to go...

with DCA being late in September, it was not easy to keep going... the corps had shows in May and then went for a full 4 months plus.

'66 I think I performed in 16 contests - all on weekends only ... now 8 is a lot...

this year, prelims will have 26 corps... this seems very firm...

As I understand it right now...16 Open class, 10 Class A and that's NOT counting the mini or alumni corps. Pretty Cool! Just think if ALL the senior corps could come to DCA. They'd have to lock the town down or declare a state of emergency. Yahoo!

Sure would be a hoot to see a top 16 corps convert to All Age. :sshh:
