Marc66
From a Mystikal press release... NEWBURY PARK, CA The year is 2106. Humanity is under the rule of Machines; artificial intelligence that demands that humans conform to a uniform, mechanical way of life. Individuality no longer exists. Humanity is not allowed to act for itself, think for itself, or live for itself. The common whole is the only way to live without regard to self, or free thought. However, humanity is complex, as are the creatures who comprise it. While it might seem easy to squelch individuality, humans have a pressing self determination; a desire to live their lives according to the dictates of their own conscience. The 2006 edition of Mystikal will explore this battle of Man vs. Machine, and tell the story of the mythical war of 2106, with their production of “Utopia: The Perfect Society?” Using a divergent and clashing style of music to mirror the warring and conflicted visual program, Mystikal will feature music from the movies “Speed” and “The Chronicles of Riddick,” along with Aaron Copeland’s, “Fanfare for the Common Man,” and supporting original themes from John Meehan and Bill Garcia, to tell the tale of a perfect society gone awry by the humans who are determined to make a better life for themselves, and a better society. From California to Madison, and points in between, you will not want to miss Mystikal’s epic march to the DCI Championships with this epic story. Look for Utopia at a stadium near you in 2006

crashhelmi36
Well, I'm trying out on sop for Mystikal this year, and they said they're looking at 32 horns total: 10 sops, 6 mells, 10 euphs, and 6 contras, out of 74 performers overall. The show idea sounded awesome, and the new members of the staff have almost too much experience to be real. I'm really looking forward to it. 84BDsop
Now waiting for the "Metropolis" visuals and musical quote from "Terminator" Sounds interesting....GOD I hope you guys get the horns to pull it off. Last year was a good program, but it just didn't have the horsepower it needed.
Marc66
I'm confident that we'll have the horns to pull off this show... Plus, with the staff additions (we'll be announcing the Brass Caption Head soon), we have the makings of one helluva fun/good year.
Center X
Not to mention the most pretentious program announcement. Marc66
Not to mention the most pretentious program announcement. Pretention was not intended...nor, is anyone from our organization claiming we're going to win anything...however, we are confident that we are going to have a good corps, that is also going to be entertaining. If that sounds pretentious, we're sorry...but, you shouldn't try to read so much into the posting.
Ryan H. Turner
Don't worry Mark...Center X has a bug up his ### about all things west coast. He's not one of my biggest fans either.
