2004 had 9 corps break 90

The first year for the 8th place corps to break 90 was 1985 Phantom Regiment with a 90.1

in 1975 and in 1984 all 12 corps in finals broke the previously recorded high score for their individual placement. These are the only years that this has occurred.

High Score records by Placement

1st 99.150 - 2002 Cavaliers (tied 2005 Cadets)

2nd 98.525 - 2004 Blue Devils

3rd 97.700 - 1998 Blue Devils

4th 96.400 - 1999 Cadets of Bergen County

5th 95.600 - 1989 Cadets of Bergen county

6th 95.300 - 1989 Star of Indiana

7th 93.600 - 1989 Madison Scouts

8th 91.500 - 1992 Phantom Regiment

9th 90.525 - 2004 Boston Crusaders

10th 89.100 - 1988 Suncoast Sound

11th 87.700 - 2005 Glassmen

12th 86.075 - 2005 Spirit of Atlanta

Wow, look at 1989 taking up 5-7. It wouldn't surprise me if we see that 5th place score fall this year.

The next cinema telecast could be the highest scoring top twelve corps by placement.

That would be a great show with those 12 (13 if you let the tying 2005 cadets in) corps.

Along the same lines

I think 8 corps is the most in one year to score in the 90's at finals.

I wonder if that record could be broken?

I know that in 1992 there were 9 corps easily over the 90 mark. And VK was 10th. They deserved to be from a GE standpoint.

I'd go to this show right now. I might get a hot dog during GMen 05 or BAC 04, but other than that, that's a fun lineup. Three Cadet shows... that's a lot of mileage.

I was curious to see the closest spread between the top 5 and the results are very interesting.

The smallest spread between 1st and 5th at finals is 2 points. this occured in 1988 the same year as the smallest spread between 1st and 12th at finals.

also interesting to note is that the largest spread between 1st and 5th at finals was 7.95 in 1983 which just happens to also be the year that the largest spread between 1st and 12th occurred.

The top 5 corps have already scored in the 90's

SCV and maybe Crown probably will this week end or very soon, making it 7.

The intereting thing is 4 corps are currently at 85.? Is it possible we could have 10 or 11 corps score in the 90's at finals?

With only 7 shows left after Atlanta, I doubt we'll see that many corps bust 90. Even if they push the upper 80s going into finals or even if they break 90 just before heading into Madison, we all know that scores for the bottom few corps either stagnate or fall during championships, especially finals, so I would guess that we'll still only see 8 or 9 over 90 at finals.
