These are the only years that this has occurred. The smallest spread between 1st and 5th at finals is 2 points. this occured in 1988 the same year as the smallest spread between 1st and 12th at finals. also interesting to note is that the largest spread between 1st and 5th at finals was 7.95 in 1983 which just happens to also be the year that the largest spread between 1st and 12th occurred. With only 7 shows left after Atlanta, I doubt we'll see that many corps bust 90. Even if they push the upper 80s going into finals or even if they break 90 just before heading into Madison, we all know that scores for the bottom few corps either stagnate or fall during championships, especially finals, so I would guess that we'll still only see 8 or 9 over 90 at finals.
