I am far from a BAC fan, but their 2000 ballad is easily the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed on a football field. It transcended drum corps and became something more. They got me cheering for singing! For singing in drum corps, for Zingali's sake!

I know there have been tons of topics in the past about everyone's favorite ballad. I figured I would make a poll about it. I know there are more great ballads than the ones I listed, but I couldn't have 50 choices so I narrowed it down to 12.

Fire of Eternal Glory - From the visual (the stationary helmets as a point of visual interest on the field), to the peek-a-boo texturing of the colorguard during the soprano melody, to the final "arced" wedge and bow, to the low brass, to the bonus studio recording on the 93 holiday cd - I think it's the best!

And to the Wild, Tired-of-Rain, drum corps lunatic audience in Jackson in 1993 - Thank You for the biggest applause and ovation I have heard (until Scouts 95, of course!)! :)

Phantom Regiment's 2006 ballad "Ave Maria" is my favorite piece EVER! PR wins!!! ^OO^

I fell in love with that piece in 1993 when I first heard the BYU Mens Chorus sing it...on tape...while living in Greece...as a Mormon missionary.

Out of the list on the poll presented, I'd probably have to vote for "Overture from Dancer in the Dark" by the Cadets from 2005. But it's not my favorite ballad of all-time.

Canterbury Chorale - 1998 Cadets - Probably my all-time favorite ballad and one of the most beautiful visual moments ever put on the field (IMO of course).

Clair de Lune - 1994 Phantom - I love Phantom for their power and passion...but it was nice to hear their take on this very light ethereal piece...so amazing.

On a Hymn Song of Philip Bliss - 1993 Cadets - One of my favorite hymns played in an incredible arrangement.

Simple Song from Mass - 1985 Garfield

Those are in the "other" category. I love these topics - so many great ballads.

i'd say Phantom has a strong hold on this category...I voted for Fire of Eternal Glory...nothing touches it

don't forget Phantom's: '91 Nessun Dorma (and a young JD Shaw if memory serves me)

'95 Rhapsody on a Theme (Variation 18)

'00 Transfigured Night

'03 Lord's Prayer

'04 Buenos Aires Hora Cero
