Great idea to bus kids from Hampton Roads to a camp, there's a ton of talent here, but in my experience, it's not the distance traveled to an audition that breaks the deal for kids around here marching, but rather getting to somewhere like Ohio once a month. I'd like to know how Capital Regiment is going to get around that hurdle. Will this bus come for every camp?

I voted Cavaliers, with honorable mention to BK. Even if you don't really dig their style (BK), almost everyone I know finds at least a few WOW! moments with the amount of dance and body movement that the hornline does...

I was at that show as a spectator, and while it was a bummer not to see Bloo, Xmen, and SCV march, it was really awesome to hear them in the gym nice and loud and to get to watch cool stuff like stick visuals. I don't think anyone in the audience took their eyes off of SCV's cymbals for their whole performance... -
Virginia Auditions?
Halcyon122 replied to xXThRowTHeFlaGXx's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I live in Williamsburg, and it only took about 6 or 7 hours to get to Jersey Surf. I would offer to carpool but I don't have a car, so I'm taking trains/busses to most of the camps. You can look into that option and that will probably be about 8 or 9 hours. The December camp for Surf got pushed back to this weekend, so if you can get a way up there, I'm sure they'd love another tuba player. Good luck w/ marching somewhere. P.S. I agree that Virginia should have a junior corps of its own or at least auditions for another corps. For someone like me who's in college, the 7 or 8 hour trip to either Surf or Crown is managable, but it would be great to have a closer alternative for a lot of the talented high schoolers in the state... -

Crossmen overall based on all of their shows, but BK by miles for the last 5-10 years. Overall, I'd probably rank these corps: 1. Crossmen 2. BK 3. Bluecoats 4. Boston 5. Glassmen 6. Carolina Crown -

Our hats were like that in HS (we had the early 90's Crossmen uniform as our template), and it was just a normal sort of plume holder like you'd find in a shako tucked into the fold and attached somehow. Then you just stick the plume in just like a shako. I think that any size will work as long as it has that wire loop as the base...
