Yes it is me, Dr Dan. Thank you for those kind words. I was very proud of the Corps this season. In fact I was very proud of the other Corps' as well since I thought this was an exceptional season on the part on all the Corps; 1-17 ( the ones I saw) As I tell our members, the judges usually get it right, and if BD, Cavies or PR had won the Championship, they would have gotten it right! This year I was especially proud since it was our 50th anniversary and the show the members put on at Championship was indeed a tribute to all of us who have ever marched or have been associated with the Corps. I was proud of the Corps for all their hard work and dedication throughout the season. The members at Championship not only performed well mechanically, but they seemed to me to be actually living the show as they performed. I could feel the emotion coming from the Corps. I could hear them crying through their instruments at the end of the Ave Maria, and when Mephistopheles came running across the field and kicked the chapel and it shook to its foundation, I got chills, the feeling changed immediately to one of anger and I could feel the battle coming on as the Corigliano began the battle between good and evel. In the Ressurection when the Corps turned around, and their uniforms were suddenly all white and the angles appeared, well I simply lost it!! When that happens Nik, as you very well know, then you WIN!!!

Thank you JD, Rabon, Dan Farrell, Dr. Dan, and all the other design/music staff for creating such a magnificent show.

Thank you Jamie, Dwight, Jay, Tony hall and all of the drill writters and consulters for all your work. This year's product was, in my opinion, the best visual design and execution from Regiment ever.

Thank you Rennick(s), Corey, Nick, and all the percussion folks. What a smoking year.

Thank you Adam Sage (although I don't know you), for communicating a breathtaking story through the guard.

Thank you support staff. There are far to many of you to name here, but a special thanks to Gail.

Thank you Pat for your leadership and for running such a tight ship.

Thanks Josh, Malory, and someone who I swear is Little Eric, but apparently is not, what a year to go!

I could hear them crying through their instruments at the end of the Ave Maria, and when Mephistopheles came running across the field and kicked the chapel and it shook to its foundation.

You know...granted, I only got to see the show once live, and a few times via webstream, but I never got this. Now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense, but I totally missed it.

It would be cool if someone, perhaps an age-out or someone else involved with the corps, could give us a "synopsis" of things to look for visually and listen to musically. I'll give it a try based on what I've seen already:

Well, the first obvious thing to me is the pentagram. Is there a particular significance behind the "sumo steps" at that point, or was it just added for cool effect?

The next thing that is particularly obvious to me is the "three-leaf palm" (for lack of a better term, someone can correct me) in the Ave Maria. After some transitions, this morphs into what looks like an angel with wings ascending, then finally into the "coming together" wedge (which is a chapel?)

Apparently this is where the foundations are shook (a very cool effect), and all Hades breaks loose.

I know Margarite dies at the end of the Corigliano, but was unable to see much of anything else from the high-cam views.

I didn't see any of the new ending for the closer, so I am sure there are some "easter eggs" in there that I would love to hear about.

What say you, members and/or staff? A nice little summary of the show for us that will have to wait for the DVDs to enjoy it over and over again?

-- The opening statement of the show is Faust selling his soul to the devil. Not sure what kind of camera time the characters will get. But thats the big concept there.

-- Pentagram: It's more of a visual effect... Meph is using his demonic powers to control the movements in all sorts of disarray...more chaos basically.

-- The trinity. Another part of the holy motif of ave maria. The suspensions shortly after the pit feature when the horns re-enter was another neat visual.

-- The circle with the drum line "captures" the demons and pulls them to the front sideline

-- The premise is that the Hornline/Drums were part of the dark side, and towards the end when the horns are running to the endzone in the mesh lines, the guard is Angelic and trying to keep the demons from getting marge.

-- the big chevron= 50 years of phantom regiment. Simple enough. Then the demons pick off the tip of the chevron to kind of leave "who really won" open for interpretation, without the potential of a "through the looking glass" sequal. har har.

Also look for...

The black hood flag that flies over regular Faust and transforms him into what I have dubbed as "Evil" Faust as the show begins.

The handshake between Faust and Meph in the intro. (Sealing the deal)

Faust trying to get to Marg during the waltz, but being blocked by the trumpets.

The demons attacking Marge by tossing their rifles over her and the trumpets.

Faust reaching out in vein, failing to rescue her at the end of Scythian Suites.

Faust praying in the church during the Ankh-like cross, with Marge in the distance (Kind of like his vision of her)

Lots of fighting between angels, demons, and the hornline to each other during the concerto.

The angels stop the hornline from getting to Marge, although they fail to stop the demons.

Also, Faust takes off his mask right after Marg is killed. (Coincidence? Yes)

Marg comes back with a new look from under the sheath, resurrected.

The Faust and Meph battle right before the big Mahler hit, when Faust captures Meph's hood.

That's all the storyline I can think of that hasn't been mentioned yet.

And they added one extra special touch and I hope it made the video.

At the end all of the demons surround a member (a mellophone)

at the end of the chevron and they escort him off the field into h#ll! It is a really subtle yet classy touch.

In the end, She is an angel, Faust is in between worlds, and the demons got another "lost soul"

So good triumphs and evil triumphs as well.

It was the perfect ending to an awesome summer!

Also I am not sure if this happened in Atlanta or not....There was a lot of fabric!

There is triangular fabric in the beginning. And also the demons' flags look singed at one point.

There's a lot of cool details to watch out for - And in the resurrection scene when they change the

sashes from glittering silver to white - so the corps is ghostly.

There is a lot of eye candy.

The shape in the Ave Maria is a "triquetra" (funny what you remember from college) and it has been used as a pagan symbol, and a Christian symbol of the Trinity, which I find ironic given the show's subject matter. I like this symbol because it is "infinite" like a moebius band; you can keep tracing your finger around and around its perimeter. Nice touch by Jamey adding the rotating circle to the right capturing the demons - the circle has also been a symbol associated with God.
