Cheap(er) flights for Crossmen...

Recommended Posts

FROM YEA! site...

Returning members have the option of attending the San Antonio audition camp on Nov. 24-26 or going to the Ultimate Marching Music Weekend on Nov. 17-19 at Carneys Point, N.J. Chambers will send a Crossmen audition team to the Cadets’ location.

They have also researched flight information, determining that costs escalate considerably flying directly into San Antonio International Airport. A Crossmen shuttle pick-up at the Houston airport, about two and a half hours away, will help members save on their airfare.

"That can save up to $150 on a plane flight," Chambers said. "We will get a better feel on this once we know the number of kids coming back." And once the kinks and details are ironed out and the 2007 season gets underway, veteran and new Crossmen will find their new home in San Antonio has so much to offer, Chambers said.

"The move is adding a whole new base of people to become Crossmen fans and supporters," Chambers said. "Yes, it is change. But this change can be really positive for an already great drum corps."

THANK YOU to the new Crossmen administration for making efforts to accomodate northeast members.....the new north audition will take some fiscal pain away, and a Houston pickup may make things more plausible for some.....

I just checked.......Phila. - Houston Southwest.......$99 each way

Baltimore - Houston.....Southwest $89 each way

I heard philly to houston $99

then a corps bus picks you up.

not bad.

Southwest has that fare though you have to book early and it is their most restricted rate. It is a one way fare, so double that for a camp. There is one Non Stop that leaves at 4:30 pm and arrives in Houston at 7:25 pm. By the time they get to San Antonio it will be late but still reasonable.

Returning the only non stop leaves at 7:15pm and gets to Philly 11:25 pm. That seems like it could work.

It isn't clear how this Houston shuttle will work. What times will it run? What if someone's flight is delayed? Houston isn't that close to San Antonio that they can run more than two trips for an evening. Right now there are seats for those rates/flights for the December camp but we don't have enough information yet to feel confident in booking them.

I'm sure they'll figure it out, plus there are plenty of people here in Houston who'd be willing to drive too...
