cmfcsnare050607
Also, from the times I saw both of those shows, I thought Crown played more in tune in 2005 than in 2006. Both were definately great hornlines. But marching through them in 05 and 06, my ears rang just a little more in 06. But that may just be because it was more recent so I remember it more. Doesnt matter, both were amazing.
ApocalypseTissue
2006 Phantom Regiment - that suprisingly fast opening from scythian suite. unbelievably scary and loud. Division 2: 06 The Academy, one of those runs in the ballad to a sustain, WHOLY CRAPPERS 06 Jersey Surf - i saw them in bensalem, they ripped the audience's face off. holy crap it scared the crap out of me

ChicagoFan
Spirit of Atlanta 1979-1980 Recordings simply can't capture that sound. For those of us who actually heard it, I don't think anything will ever come close.

Gorgo
7:50 to 8:02 of Star of Indiana 1993, concurring with a bunch of folks on that one. Hornline, battery and pit - every playing member - simultaneously going full bore. Can't get much louder than that.
prodigal bari
Spirit of Atlanta 1979-1980Recordings simply can't capture that sound. For those of us who actually heard it, I don't think anything will ever come close. I had 50 yd line seats for both years..the 1980 was so emotionsl. a...You could hear the corps set up for the last notes. It sent chills up your spine. b...The crowd was just SCREAMING for the corps at that last drum roll before the final chord progressions. c....The sound...and the crowd...was just deafening. And you could see wet cheeks on all the corps members. Was, IMHO, the most emotional moment in the history of the activity. Yet, would trade it to have Jim Ott back.. ps..Due to the elimination of the judging cut-off, we will never have moments like that again. Cannot risk the score for the raw power and emotion. Too bad, too. Edited October 16, 2006 by prodigal bari
