contrajedi8
I want my good warm brass sound :P Amen. You could toast a marshmallow in front of their arc. I hope they shake things up in top 5 this year.
madalumni
It's that magical "Breathe-dah" pixie dust DVD keeps spreading all over the lines he's associated with... first 80s Garfield, then Star, and now, these kids. Was Donny with Garfield in 82-83?
tubamann
crossmen and troopers also.the breathe dah is used by almost every corps . senior or junior. very 80's. Breath dah is the nickname of the Brass pedagogy developed by DVD and others, and perfected at Star of Indiana. There is much more to it then breathing and using a DAH articulation. The difference at CC is that they are learning from the master and his minions! It may be very 80's but it works and has made the CC brass program into a contender. Dash Fieldpaint
I've been wondering when someone might bring CC up... it's been very quiet, and no one has been here over doing the hype or spreading the doom and gloom. I'm sure they are loving the silence... It's better this way. I, for one, am pretty tired of all the Crown fanboys and their "ZOMG!!!! CROWN 4 teH WINNAR!!! AlL oThErS: TEh SUXXORZ!!!11!!" posts. tubamann
How will the change from King to Yamaha horns affect the brass sound? It won't. The teaching is there, and the talent is good. They still sound great. The Yamaha's are good horns. BTW, Of the five corps that beat CC in brass at finals last year, 3 of them played on Yamaha horns, including the holders of the Ott Trophy. They must be doing something right.. Edited January 18, 2007 by tubamann

Steady improvement, and recognition for having a good sound by many in the activity, much to your chagrin, I'm sure. The current team has been in place since 2003, and there excellence is obvious in the improvement since then.
